Sydney Metro, Australia’s largest public transport project, is leveraging Digital Twins (DTw) to enhance project delivery, operations, and asset management. Project Advisory Group led Sydney Metro’s Digital Twin (DTw) business case review and Horizon 1 implementation, enhancing digital capability and delivering tangible benefits. Key focus areas included use case management for 4D modelling, asset defects, and construction progress, supported by a 12-month roadmap for programme and change management. PAG also collaborated with the TfNSW cluster, engaging Digital Engineering teams, shaping reference architecture, and driving innovation initiatives.

Our Approach

SEQ’s Digital Twin required a structured approach to:

  • Align strategy and governance across multiple agencies.

  • Develop a clear roadmap for adoption and implementation.

  • Enhance digital capability to maximise long-term benefits.

  • Integrate data sources and ensure interoperability across platforms.

Project Advisory Group addressed these challenges by developing a structured implementation approach, ensuring collaboration, and enabling effective use of Digital Twin technology to support infrastructure delivery and asset management.

Key Outcomes

  • Created a DTw roadmap with a Proof of Concept implementation for multiple use casees.

  • Enhanced digital capability through stakeholder engagement and executive presentations.

  • Defined clear organisational objectives for successful adoption.

  • Improved decision-making with practical use case selection.

  • Developed an implementation program, including DTw change management.
